The Forge is a mining and crafting game on Roblox where you travel into caves, mine ores, and forge weapons and armor to become stronger. The game has multiple islands with progressively harder content, and your main goal as a beginner is to upgrade your pickaxe as fast as possible.

This guide will take you from your first moments in Stone Wakes Cross all the way to mid-game in Forgotten Kingdom. The key insight? Focus on pickaxes first, ignore armor and weapons early on.

🎯 The #1 Beginner Goal

Your entire early game (first 10-20 hours) should be focused on making money and upgrading pickaxes. Don't waste time on armor or weapons until you have the Arcane Pickaxe!

🎮

Getting Started

When you first spawn into The Forge, you'll arrive at Stone Wakes Cross — the first island. Your first 30-40 minutes will be spent following Sensei Morrow's tutorial quests.

📖 The Basic Gameplay Loop

  1. Enter the cave and mine for different ores
  2. Collect ores and bring them back to the surface
  3. Take ores to the forge to create weapons and armor
  4. Sell items for cash or use them to get stronger
  5. Upgrade your pickaxe to mine better ores

⚔️ Cave Progression

The cave has different zones protected by enemies. You don't need a specific level to progress — if you can kill the enemies (or sneak past them), you can access higher-tier ores.

  • Entrance: Pebbles, Stone, Iron — no enemies
  • Deeper areas: Protected by Zombies
  • Even deeper: Rocks and giant boulders with stronger enemies

💡 Pro Tip

The tutorial does a great job explaining the basics. Complete it fully before diving into the advanced strategies in this guide!

Race Rolling Guide

During the tutorial, you'll get a chance to roll for a race. Races give you permanent bonuses and some even give you wings! If you accidentally close the menu, you can access it again through:

  • Backpack → Shop Menu → Roll Section → "Go to Race Menu"
  • Visit the Wizard in the tower (climb up past the Greedy Vendor)

🏆 Best Races to Aim For

👼 Angel
Best for Mining
😈 Demon
Best for Fighting
🐉 Dragonborn
Good for Fighting
👤 Shadow
Good for Fighting
⛏️ Dwarf
Good for Mining

⚠️ Race Rolling is RNG

Angel and Demon are extremely rare. Some players get them on their first free roll, others spend thousands of Robux and never get them. Don't stress about it — Dwarf, Shadow, and Dragonborn are solid alternatives!

Pickaxe Progression

This is the most important section of this guide. Your entire early game revolves around upgrading pickaxes. Here's the optimal progression path:

🏝️ Island 1: Stone Wakes Cross

Bronze Pickaxe — Starting pickaxe
START

🏝️ Island 2: Forgotten Kingdom

✅ Recommended Path

Bronze → Iron → Platinum → Cobalt → Uranium → Mythril → Arcane
Skip Titanium and Lightite — they're not worth the investment!

🏝️

Stone Wakes Cross (Island 1)

Stone Wakes Cross is your starting island. Your goal here is simple: complete the tutorial, get the Platinum Pickaxe, and move on to Island 2.

🎯 Island 1 Goals

  1. Complete Sensei Morrow's tutorial quests
  2. Get the Iron Pickaxe (tutorial reward)
  3. Save money and buy the Platinum Pickaxe
  4. Complete Bard's Quest to unlock the secret cave
  5. Reach Level 10 and complete "End of the Beginning" quest

🎸 Bard's Quest (Secret Cave)

This quest unlocks the secret cave where you can eventually buy the Arcane Pickaxe for $125,000.

  1. Talk to Bard near the spawn area
  2. Enter the cave and go left at Nord's location
  3. Find the stack of plants and drop down into the secret cave
  4. Pick up Bard's guitar leaning against a rock
  5. Return to Bard — he gives you a key
  6. Use the key on the locked cage door (right side from Nord, through the archway)
🏰

Forgotten Kingdom (Island 2)

Once you complete the "End of the Beginning" quest and reach Level 10, you'll unlock a portal to the Forgotten Kingdom. This is where your mid-game grind begins!

🎯 Island 2 Goals

  1. Get the Cobalt Pickaxe immediately
  2. Work toward Uranium → Mythril → Arcane
  3. Complete quests for easy money and XP
  4. Start Morrow's quest line on this island too
  5. Do daily quests for consistent income

💡 Same Strategy Applies

Nothing changes on Island 2 — keep focusing on making money and upgrading pickaxes. Don't get distracted by armor or weapons yet!

💰

Making Money

The best way to make money as a beginner is to craft everything into armor and sell it. Specifically, focus on crafting Heavy Chestplates — they sell for the most!

💵 Money Making Strategy

  1. Mine ores in the cave
  2. Craft Heavy Chestplates at the forge
  3. Sell everything for cash
  4. Repeat until you can afford the next pickaxe

⚠️ Don't Use Your Armor!

Nothing you craft on Island 1 will be relevant later. Don't waste time trying to make "the best armor" — just sell everything and focus on pickaxes!

Important Quests

Quests are a great source of money and XP. Here are the most important ones to complete:

🏝️ Island 2 Quests

🐵 Monkey NPC $12,000 Give 30 Banana Ores (from Island 1)
🎭 Masked Stranger $10,000 DAILY QUEST — Do this every day!
⚔️ Morrow Good XP + Cash Start his quest line immediately
🔬 Isaac Good XP + Cash At the top (use cannon)
🚢 Captain Rowan Huge XP chunks Extensive quest line
💎 Amber Daily Quest Inside the danger cave

🐵 How to Find the Monkey NPC

From the Island 2 spawn, look for a cannon on the right side near an empty dock. Travel to the small island and climb up to find the secret monkey NPC!

📚

Index Rewards (Free Money!)

Your Index (in your backpack) tracks everything you discover. Every time you find a new ore, forge a new item, or kill a new enemy, you can claim a reward!

🎁 How to Claim Index Rewards

  1. Open your Backpack
  2. Go to the Index tab
  3. Check Ores, Forge, and Enemies sections
  4. Click "Claim" on everything!

💰 Free Money Alert!

If you've been playing without checking your Index, you probably have a TON of unclaimed rewards waiting. Go claim them now for easy cash and XP!

🏆 Achievements Tab

The Achievements tab works like a progression system. As you complete achievements, you unlock notches that let you equip permanent boosts:

  • Mine Power Boost — Great for mining
  • Attack Speed — Good for combat
  • XP Multiplier — Level up faster
  • Luck — Better drops
  • Move Speed — Travel faster
  • Critical Chance — More crits
⚔️

Combat & Cooperation

The Forge rewards cooperation! When you see other players fighting enemies, help them out — you'll both get rewards!

🤝 How Cooperation Works

  • If you help kill an enemy, both players get rewards
  • Both players get quest progress if applicable
  • There's no "kill stealing" — helping is always beneficial!

⚠️ Mining Etiquette

Unlike combat, mining is individual. When you start mining a rock, it's locked to you. It's considered rude to rush through an area someone else is mining — respect other players' space!

💎

Ores to Save (Don't Sell!)

While you should sell most ores as armor, there are some rare ores you should hold onto for mid-game and end-game crafting:

Demonite Eye Ore Rivalite Obsidian Mythril Uranium

🚫 Never Sell Demonite!

Demonite is extremely important for mid-game and end-game crafting. Save every single one you find!

Everything else? Dump it into armor and sell!
